I've been looking for a 535i for a while now, how hard a job is the head gasket? DIY?

It takes some time but its an okay job to do on a M30b35 engine.
I recond if you do it your self, it will cost you around £250 in parts...

I wouldn't bother personally, there are cheap ones to be had that don't need the head gasket doing, My donor was only £300 and it ran sweet as! You just got to bide your time and scour the local rags! winkeye

I Think I can get a intact one for cheaper than the cost to buy it and fix the head gasket. And its not like a m30 conversion isnt a fair bit of work anyway Id rather not have to do that as well. Cheers for the info 78dude

yeah a m30 conversion does take long enough and cost more than people think. keep your eyes open man you will find one.

Nah, £250 would be about right dude.

£400 a tad steep for this imo, can pick up decent runners for less than that.

Would get nowt for the metrics, no-one wants them, sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiidey

Surprisingly low mileage for an F plate Sport.

You could probably get it for £300... and a head-gasket change for £250...? You using gold-plated parts?

And then you need new streech bolts (or what every you call then in English) and you need to send the head to a cylinder service to skim it so its 100% in plan when you fit it on again.
And when the head is off, you want to get a new water pump and new coolant who is something you dont get for free!
