E36 Mileage Display

The mileage display on my good lady's E36 has gone very dim and can only be read with the car's lights on. Is it just a bulb on these or something more complicated? Thanks.

i think its quite common for the bulbs to go my old edirty6 had the same problem and my brother can only read half of his display.
