E46 Build Sheet Advice

Gentlemen,

A mate of mine is currently in the market for a E46 320d Cabriolet ( i think he was well impressed with my rear top mounts...), and has found one, but the dealer is being a dodgy bastard. He claims in the advert that it has got a Hard-on Kardon sound system, and we wanna check this out.

I vaguely remember something on here where we could check the original spec of our E30, just wondered if we could do that with the E46?

Any advice will be rewarded by (your chosen) God in a an act of miracularity....

I think you mean a Harmon Kardon upgrade

Any BMW dealer can confirm the original spec from the chassis number.

If that were QI you would have just done the dummy answer..... I think me dog knows that it isnt genuinely called a Hard-on sound system.

Thanks for the advice, i will get the chassis number and check it out. Dya reckon they cando it from the Reg no, it has never been changed.

The reg number should be enough as its the original one.

ask the dealers to enter the chassis number (the last 7 digits in the bottom left of the w/screen) or the reg number into 'Viewdata' and all will be revealed

Or, while you're there, you could just go n look at the speaker covers... They have Harmon Kardon written on them if you have the 'Top Hi-fi' option

If a car have a Harmon Kardon sound system, shouldnt there be any kind of logo/badge or sticker on the speakers who tell that kind of stuff, the same with Bose and some other few good brands in the hifi business?

It is Harman Kardon not Harmon Kardon. And the easest way is to check speakers covers. They shoud have HK bades.
