whats involved in changing one of theese its a 1998 318is and it stuck running on a friend of mines any info on what involved in changing it would be great a how much a barrel would be from bmw

If I recall correctly, they're about ┚¬40 from your local friendly BMW dealer, the thing is you have to supply the last 7 digits of your chassis no and they order it in. (I think)
The same happened mine, got home took the key out and the engine stayed running. I had to deliberately stall it to shut it off. The last time my E36 was in for a service, the mechanic recorded the chassis no 'cause he'd be fitting a new one at the next service. Very common thing on the E36.
