yes great looking car way cooler than a seven series and I like the early sevens would benefit from a 3.5 and manual swap then you would really hve a fun retro car.

Just been watching the sweeney 2 film on ITV4 and one of the getaway cars was a 3.0i in silver. Classy car in their day.

They was the beast of the Autobahn back in the old days! I like them a lot, and you can use them for every day classic even if they are over 30 years now!

Now how much class does that ooze??? You can stick your mercs of the era!jam172 wrote:My E3 3.0si
Jam, That is lovely and I'm not a million miles from you. Fancy giving me a ride in it one day? Never been in one, would be another BMW boxed ticked and I'd treat you to a pint.
My earliest BMW memory was being given a lift to school in the local estate agents 3.0csi coupe. I was 7 or 8, it was about 1971/72 so it could well have been new. I remember thinking, "I like this car". and it was the same colour as your i Jam.

Thanks for the compliments, an E3 3.0si is a bit special it has exactly the same running gear as the Coupe and 200BHP, not bad for it's dayB7 wrote:Now how much class does that ooze??? You can stick your mercs of the era!jam172 wrote:My E3 3.0si

Must agree, stunning looking car. Many years ago i fragged a factory gloss black 3.3lia with white leather, it had been abandoned in hendon and the frag yard wouldn't sell me the whole car it had to be fragged in their compound. I cried as i dismembered it.
I still vividly remember trying to cram all of the interior into my inca orange 2000 touring !

The model that Pacer Pete fragged, a 3.3lia was the Limo (L being long wheel base and a being auto) these are as rare as hens teeth now, no wonder he cried. A 1974/5 car with aircon, cruise and full leather, very nice.

Thanks for that, had my wife and 5 year old daughter in the car when it happened, fortunately no-one was hurt, the damage to the car is not even that bad, n/s rear quatre panel and rear bumper that's all but you know how it is, once they deem the cost of repair is getting close to the value of the car,it's a write off.

Sorry to hear about that Jamie but at least you were all ok. E30's get written off all to easily these days due to their low book value. It breaks my heart to see crappy 5 year old euro hatches that wont be worth a w*nk in when there 10 years old, have less damage but get repaired. I've seen a few e30's in the ast couple of years get written off for as little damage as a wing and bumper!
