Hi lads ok so my heating inside my car just gave up yesterday! Its a 330Ci if that makes any difference? It was working fine the day before and now there is no hot air at all, no matter which button I press and the heat dial is set on 3 red dots. There is loads of cold air. Please could someone shed some light as other forums are crap compared to this 1!
Cheers rich

Does the water temp get up to half way? It should only take 10 minutes of driving. If not, im going with the thermostat. They are a problem with the E46's, there just made of plastic so break from the heat.
Mine cost £120 from an indie to fit. part i £40ish, but you need a fan tool (i dont have) which is an other £30. I figure it was only an other £50 and i didnt need to piss about and swear on my weekend.

Yeh the water temp gets to half way fairly quick I'd say 5ish mins but never goes over the half way. I have my car booked in to do a coolant change so I'll see if they can change it.

I am sorry to say but your car is so mondern that I think you need to take it to the nearest BMW dealer for an diagnostic.... But I am glad that you booked the car into a garage!

Yep I think you are right mate because I was told it could be the heater valve now! Diagnostic it is! I love my E46 but modern cars are a pain in the a*se!

Back again! heres the bad news update! Changed my mind with the diagnostic as couldn't find anywhere to do it other then a main dealer who wouldn't give me a price but said it takes aslong as it takes! So changed the Thermostat AND heater control valve myself and bled the system and STILL no hot air!
I've heard of some kind of resistor but where is it and whats it called? Cant find it on Realoem.
Please please can someone help me????

Get some newspapers and put them under the engine (or the front of the car on the ground)
-Start up the engine and look for any leaks who will then drop on the newspaper (when you get a decent temp on the engine)
-Open the hat on the water resorvare and look for any bubbles and also see if the water level change?
-Can your water pump be broken is maybe my idea, after all the water pump is a service part and can brake?
-Check all the pipes and radiator as well, take with you a flash light and look for any small leaks?
Just some few ideas from me.....

Cheers for the ideas mate much appreciated!
I have now bypassed the heater valve with some pipe and still no hot air so that rules out a faulty heater panel. Theres deffinetly no water leaks or air in the system. Was talking to sytners earlier so now Im down to as you say 78dude the waterpump or a blocked matrix
