You sure that it is snapped chain not sucked in inlet manifold flap? It is 136 HP engine, isn't it? In both cases it is scrap engine. Sorry.

not necceserally a scrap engine at all but will need to no how much damage has been done first

Technicaly maybe not, but ecomicaly yes. It is cheaper to buy another engine than repare damaged one.

Ok, let's check:
1. 16 valves
2. 16 valve guides
3. replacing 16 valve guides
4. grinding 16 valves
5. big end bearings
6. replacing big end bearings
7. cylinder head gasket set
8. striping and assembling the head
9. possible new head (you can't skim it - check TIS)
10. possible new pistons or feew of them
11. chain with tensioner, guide rails and wheels
We still don't know what damaged snapped chain, we don't know at what revs it snapped (turbo bearings!). And second hand engine without starter motor, alternator, AC compressor, etc you can buy for 1200 quid.
