BMW art cars

happened to stumble by some interesting info the other day, apparently BMW paid famous artists to paint some of the BMW factory backed race cars to form moving art.

Some of the artists are quite famous now including Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, and Andy Warhol, with later ones being designed by more modern pop-culture artists.

As a side note, the exotic (yet blotchy) BMW M1 LM was hand painted by Andy Warhol (most were designed on models then transferred by a paint team to the cars). It is believed he used something akin to fingerpaint, which has since started attacking the fiberglass bodywork. I'm not sure if this has yet been cured, but certainly does make a comment about his choice of mediums.
