What parts do the compacts share with the E30? I heard the whole rear end setup is the same. Is this true? And can you get one with an is lump?

The 318ti E36 has the M42/M44 depending on age.

The compact came with the 8v M43, 16v M42/M44 and there was also a Euro only 323ti.

the e36 / 5 has a very similar rear axle-subframe,

but in fact, shares almost 0 peices with íts predecessor

the diff is usable from an e30 on a comp, but the driveshaft / shaft flanches need to be changed a little

The rear subframe bushes are the same, but dont share the same number, neither does the rear susp. assembly.

the box and m42 will fit over i beleive

the front susp. struts will swap over to a 30

the rear arb wont go

gear shifer from a z3 1.9

The Z3 has a few E30 compatible parts also , as its basically an E36 compact chassis.
