What are these cars worth in bits?

I know of one that has been crashed, medium front end and light N/S rear.

Car has black vader leather, and 86k with documentation to back up the mileage.

Tell me about it!

At this rate e36 m3's will just be feeder cars for tuned e30's :)

Now there's an idea Si!

Buy the car, get Glenn to chuck the engine into your touring, Frag the rest to break even....

Happy days!!

Do you think they will climb up again like the e30?

I know the arguments for them not too but there are arguments for them to climb like the powerfull engine rear wheel drive lsd and no traction control!

The new m3's are getting soft with too many driver aids and toys, the e36 is the last raw m3.........

comparing what they cost in NZ, i am seriously considering taking one back and basically just putting the bits in an e30 (either current or a new one)

for around £4k (evo, what you guys think) plus £1k odd shipping i have EVERYTHING needed, know that it all works, and excess bits to sell off.

prices seem all over the show, depends on what your wanting i suppose in NZ your still looking at around £6k-£7k for anything decent.

seems a bit of a shame to rip apart a perfectly good car, but they made enough of them

which brings me to my next point, i dont think they will climb purely as they made so many more of them than e30 m3s...at least thats what the pistonheads classifieds tell me! maybe as they start getting older and taken to pieces they will?

If the box is the 6 speed its worth more than £500, they appear to be quite fragile (certainly more than the bog standard 5 speed) so good for conversion or replacement, and you could get more than £2000 for the engine, I was looking at everything box and engine (with low miles and docs to verify) for £4000 recently and it sold before I could raise the funds. The key is if the buyer can hear it running and you have all the EWS, and state of Vanos.

A good Evo engine from FAB costs £3250, the 6 speed gearbox is £995, all plus VAT. That's pretty much top whack but that gets you a bag of peace of mind and a warranty.

Not quite the margin in it for them to buy good running cars for breaking yet though...

Realistically:

Engine complete - £2500
gearbox - £600
diff - £200
wheels - £400 if mint
interior - £600
m3 mirrors - £160+
m3 bumper - £150?
