Si. That silver 4.0 is just the fackin nuts. I STILL love the e34. I reckon it's THE best car BMW have ever made. I loved my 2 2.5's to bits. Loved the black one so much I had it 5 years! And the Alpina was the best styling for that shape (and the e32). Not sure it worked as well on the e39, I think the ACS looks better there.
I'd have another 34 to be honest but the wife says they just look like an old car now (what the f*ck do they know?). Hence the reason that I've lined an e39 up up to look at this weekend
. Thats if I can get my mate to drive to Manchester!

The E34 looks such a lovely motor nowadays. Drive a modern BMW and most people think you're just a flash tw@t, drive an old one and they think you're a skank. But the E32, E34 and to a certain extent the E38 all ooze a timeless class IMO.B7 wrote:Si. That silver 4.0 is just the fackin nuts. I STILL love the e34. So true. I was on the verge of bidding on a late facelift 740 e38 the other night.darkchild wrote:The E34 looks such a lovely motor nowadays. Thing is with the e39, they are affordable yet still look modern so it pleases the missus once and for all. She can't complain cos I've spent the extension money, nor that the car looks old. I had one a year ago before being subjected to a company car that has proceeded to bore me shitless, give me a bad back and given me the "unsuccessful W4nker" image. Just can't wait to get back in something that has a bit of panache again.

Look forward to getting my E34 535i back on the road in December (been SORNed throughout November, after the notorious M30 water pump failed).

Yaninnya - i think you have misread what i said. This B10 is a very rare 4.0 V8 version which was 286 standard. Alpina just reworked the top end with cams, gasflowed head etc to get 315bhp which is.........3.6 M5 power.
This was a really a quick job by alpina while they were developing the mighty 4.6 litre version of this engine, which again in few numbers found it's way into the E34! with 340bhp and major torque, way more than the 3.8 M5 could manage. Different gearing meant they are not quite as quick though. It then went into the E39 B10, also fittedto the B8 4.6 E36 monster and then found it's way in later life into BMW's very own X5 in the 4.6iS model in M62 form.
