 There is a growing movement to Boycott the two largest Oil Companies as they are the one's dirrectly responsible for the fuel price rises. They put their prices up and force the smaller companies to follow suit.

The idea is to tell as many people as possible to use the other fuel companies, so forcing Esso and BP to reduce their prices in the long term.

This will need 12 months effort from as many people as you can recruit to give the desired effect.

Worth a try in my opinion.

It isn't the oil companies driving up the retail price of road fuel.
It's largely the American government and their meglomaniac desire to control the worlds oil resources. On top of that, the biggest wedge (nearly 80%) of the cost of road fuel in Great(!) Britain is direct taxation.
The recent 2-3p increase was not a price increase, but a duty increase.
Boycotting specific oil companies is not the answer.

I don't normally use BP oe ESSO anyways
Where I am,SHELL/ASDA/MORRISONS is usually cheaper anyway
As STU says
Most of the cost of fuel is down to greedy government taxation
At least Dick Turpin looked you straight in the eye as he robbed you

Utterly, utterly pointless. As StuBeeDoo says, most of it is tax that ends up in the Government's back pocket anyway.

As for using Morrisons or Asda for petrol, with their recent history I'll give it a miss thanks and happily pay the extra 2p premium to one of the bigger oil companies who provide a better quality product.

Do what I did (along with Brian, Tim and others).
Convert to LPG. It's not taxed so heavily. My fuel costs have vitrually halved.
When I was buying petrol regularly, I only ever used supermarkets anyway - unless I was away from home and running on fumes. In 20-odd years I've never had a problem with supermarket fuel in any car, even my Sunbeam Lotus.

Don't forget that you have the retail price of the fuel, then you have the fuel duty, and then VAT is added to the duty-inclusive price. A tax on top of a tax! :clin::twisted::cheese::mad:
IIRC, the actual retail price of a litre of unleaded, before any duty/VAT is added is under 20p. Why do you think the Americans have such cheap fuel? It's not because their prices are much different to yours - theirs isn't taxed so heavilly.

Try http://www.petrolprices.com/
Just enter your postcode and they send you regular updates of the petrol price within a given radius.

For day to day driving, petrol is petrol - there is no difference between supermarket stuff and the major fuel suppliers, I use Morrisons, they are usually amongst the cheapest and they give you a £5 voucher with every X amount of petrol purchased, to spend in their supermarkets.

Of course not, hence why nearly all the Tescos and Morrisons round my neck of the woods had to close down for a day due to contaminated supplies

My mates E39 runs like a dog on Supermarket stuff but is a completely different beast on V Power.

91 ron is the minimum they will run on!

My alpina ran fine on tesco 99 which high comp (over 10:1) normal E30's run fine in supermarket stuff. Don't forget it all comes from the same refinerys just a lorry with a different label on it

there's absolutely nowt wrong with supermarket fuel. It all comes from the same place. What is more important is how fresh the stuff is. A place with a high turnover and with regular deliveries of fuel is likely to be better than going to a branded forecourt that doesn't shift as much.

V-power :gay:

You must enjoy burning money to run a car on that stuff, I can barely hand over the cash for standard unleaded, I used to use Tesco as they were always the cheapest, but since they fuc*ed all those poxy corsas up their prices are higher than Shell!

Prices local to me
Tesco's - 97.9
Sainsbury's - 97.9
Shell - 96.9
BP and texaco are more like 99.9 and up to 101.9!

I use Asda now, they charge 93.9, if you buy their fuel with their credit card you get a discount of 2p per litre. I have a station 10 miles away which I pass nearly every day and there are about 4 others in a 20 mile radius

So I am saving approx 50 pence on a gallon of fuel to your V-power, I did 30,000 miles in the last 12 months which equates to a saving of £600

LPG here I come!!

I've stopped using BP and haven't used ESSO for over two years now. It's ridiculous.

I've heard on the radio this morning that there's rumors that some farming companies and Haulers are planning a dispute due too the high fuel prices.

I hope they get on with it soon. This Government is taking the piss.
If Mr. Brown and his entourage think he can price me off the road they can think again.

Please could someone get the petrol petition out ASAP

..... Just as long as it's aimed at the Government rather than the fuel companies.
The only beef with the fuel companies is the price differential the further away the forecourt is from the refinery. That takes the wee-wee. Do supermarkets charge more for their produce the further away from the warehouse the shop is? They'd never get away with it.
