i have a 318is 1.9 and the cat has a hetshiel type thing on it which is loose and rattles alot, i dont want to fork out for a new cat and it cant be welded cos it looks like ali,what can i do? :(

should also say that should say heatshield not hetshiel :hammer: it has gone loose because it catches on speedbumps, apart from the rattle it is in good nick :?

Only way to solve this is to replace the cat - you can't weld it anywhere I know of unfortunately.

The heatshield corrodes where it meets the cat and begins rattling - it's a common complaint.

You must've made it ride seriously low for it to ground out there though.

it grounds out there and on the chassis at the front! i was hoping it could be cut off but wasnt sure what heat it generates and if it would damage anything
