smelly aircon!!

i have a e39 528 sport and after i turn the air conditioning off a foul smell comes through the air vents for ages.it smells foisty. it only happens after the aircon has been on though.

do i need some sort of daft filter changing or what?

any ideas??

They say that if you put it on full heat for a while it will get rid of the smell but only for a short while, basically your air con needs serviced, you can also get a can of air con air freshener from places like Halfords which you can spray down the air vents and/or change the pollen filter and spray through the hole the pollen filter exposes. All air con cars suffer this problem if not serviced.

You probably have bugs growing inside the heater box; possibly new life forms evolving.
Treatments are available to kill them off.
Tech help is for E30 problems only, by the way. Everything else should be in other BMW chat if on the zone at all!

if you go to a kwik fit we are doing a de bug its £19.95p its really good i done one on my dads car it really does work smells nice too it clears all the air vents kills bacteria and old air con gas does go off funny smells should change every two years at least
