Would it be possible that these could have come with one?
Would A E28 diff fit on A E30?

Yes an E28 diff is interchangeable with an E30, you will need to change over the back plate though, ie swap them over (so you are going to need a new gasket at the ready). Before you get too far with the idea though, you will need to check the diff ratio you need, there should be a tag fixed to one of the back plate bolts scrape off the grime and read the numbers, if it is a LSD it will be pre fixed with "S" if it just reads for example 3,25... then it is an ordinary fixed diff. The higher the number the lower geared it is going to be.

I hope this helps, i have just put an LSD in my E28 so if you need any advice then let me know.

Be careful

party true , only the smaller engined e28 diff will fit , not the 535 etc as the a very big case and can not be made to fit , shame as there the ones normally found with LSD ,

you will need to change over the back plate and THE DRIVE SHAFT FLANGES FRON A BIG CASE E30
