My dad removed the immobiliser from it now the fuel pump works sometimes and other times it doesn't, any help would be appreciated.

A wiring diagram would be nice too :)

Thanks,

Jamie

The wire from the sensors to the ECU is too thin also, check that out.

It was an aftermarket immobiliser which was causing all sorts of problems.

Dave i think your problem is in your head :)

surely dave, the pump needs a signal from the ECU to tell it tio initiate pumping....

amateur!

Max- likely that the Imobiliser is wired in some way to the ECU or pump and is stopping them working/sending correct signals!

No, the pump is always activated. The ECU just tells the injectors when to open.

The ECU on the 540i probably tells them to stay open all the time :D

a common method for immobilizing a vehicle is to cut the feed to the pump, no fuel, no go. so if he has just removed an immobilizer, that problem should be staring him in the face, check all the wiring from where he removed the immob to the pump(ie physically trace the wire) pump should be fairly straight forward tho, a live feed from the battery (this is where the immobilizer should be spliced into..)

You should get a Spanish one, learn to speak the language if you live there! Or get a translator!
