I am considering buying an e34 touring as my main car. Large boot space
would be useful. Prices of late models seem reasonable at the moment.
What sort of fuel enonomy would manual a 518i/ 520i 24v acheive?
How would this compare to a 525tds? would also consider one of these but understand a good one is likely to be hard to find.
Did all of these come with obscure tyre sizes, or just some years?

If you want fuel economy then its got to be the diesel, tourings are very heavy, anything less than a 525i wouldnt pull a greasy man out of bed.
V8's are the way to go
LPG system will give you economy back

520i's are crap - the 518i is better. Avoid the V8 (too juicy/complex) and go for a manual 525i without the stupid troublesome (£Â£Ã‚£) double sunroof. K reg onwards is single vanos and they're okay on fuel. The 525tds wasn't great on fuel and cost a fortune to fix.
