My dad just bought this 114,000 mile 728i 96 from an salvage Cat C, auction site. Sold for £1200. Bargin or what.

Sorry for bad spelling.

Dark metalic green, 18" M Paralell wheels, clear light clusters, Cream or beige electric, heated leather interior, Climate AC, Fully loaded really.

Can I ask if a 2.8 can move a big 7 quickly?

They are definately not slow by any means. Quite even against a e30 325i.

Good buy!

Now get that engine in the e30!

An e38 leather interior will fetch about £10 on ebay ! :( And that won't be cheap by the time its repaired properly !

I thought the same as Pete, but it seemed to be going against the grain of the thread. Arn't seven series parts in a similar league to 8 series bits, i.e very expensive. In a certain scottish auction these are this cheap in immaculate condition with 5k miles on the clock, fBsh :)

Assuming the car is in good mechanical order and not wanting for much, then you've probably got a grand to repair that but the time you've finished buying panels from a scrapper, plus all the other bits and then a paint job unless you're lucky enough to get same colour body parts.

It is a big lump of car for just 200bhp so it won't be a missile from the lights but a good motorway cruiser.

A 96 728 on cat c even repaired well probably wouldn't have you see your money back so you're in the situation of doing a quick bodge repair and punt it on for what you can get, doing a proper repair and keep it or frag it now

nice looking car though

I have just served a leggy but total history 2000 V plate 735 for £2250 , it didn't have sat nav but as people often tell me where to go that wasn't a hardship ! :) These cars are big money to fix and maintain so get ready for some big bills ! :(
Don't worry, even a 728 goes well and is reasonably economical. Did i mention nikasil......

If it's Cat C recordced on the V5 it'll be worth about £1500 repaired or £2200 unrecorded. E38 front end panels are pricey used. £1200 wasn't cheap by any means but it should make a nice smoker when fixed.

yeah, nikasil aside...they aint quick but all the guides say the 2.8 6 is the one to go for, makes so much more sence. This car makes no sence, but thats the most sensible one lol. What ever they say or any one else, its looks the daddy
