Iv'e just bought some E60 wheels for my E39.
I need to reduce the central bore by 1.5mm.
Probably need a local engineering company.
Anyone done this before?.
Easy done?.
Changing the Central Bore.

Spigot rings is the way to go - metal ones are supposed to be best, stay away from the plastic inserts.

What's wrong with plastic inserts?
The inserts only locate the wheel centrally while you tighten the bolts up.
Once the bolts are tightened, it's friction between the wheel mounting face and the brake disc mounting face that drives you along and stops the wheel otherwise moving relative to the hub.

Only what I have heard about plastic on other forums, everyone seems to rate the metal ones best. I sold my old E39 rims to a buddy who had bought my E34 and he went and bought the plastic inserts - he was not too keen on these when he got them as he felt they were very flimsy, he said he was gonna get metal when he could.
I hear what you say about only centralizing the wheel whilst tightening the bolts up. Maybe the metal inserts do not have any flex in them after assembly whereas the plastic inserts can perhaps allow some flexing????
Maybe we have some guys who have tried plastic inserts out there?

The plastic spigot rings are pretty flimsy and tend to crack and break.

Mine are plastic too but only cus that is what the wheel manufacturer supply. Only had the wheels about 3 months already had to replace the rear spigots cus they broke and caused vibration.

Gone but not forgotten.

Had my wheels a while now and never had to change my plastic ones yet touch wood. (knocks on forehead)
Returned after many years out.

I think mine break because i'm always taking the wheels on and off to clean under the arches to try and stop the rear arches from totally rotting away. So actually forget everything I said, plastic rings are most probably fine.
