wasnt a "concept" car from bmw's a few years back called the Z9, and they modled the new six seris on it.
that, i wont comment on, but bmw seem to be chasing too many new markets and loosing touch a bit. i think they should make an M1, based on th 1 series, with a 2.5 litre stroked version of the e90 320is,and make 250bhp screamer !!!
price it at about 25K , make limited numbers and watch it sell

what a surprise...even without the camoflage on its going to be another minger form bmw.
i think the 1 series is the worst minger of the lot but kos is right.....make an m1 and price it right and joe suburbia is going to go nuts for it.

I think they'd rather make 70,000 munter mobile's and sell em to jumped up tossers
Rather than make 15,000 real beasts for the enthusiast

bmw have had to expand their model range to remain competitive. If they hadn't they no doubt could of been swallowed up by GM or ford. And you can bet it would of gone down hill then!
Bmw are owned by no one, and long may it stay that way.

Too true. Although Bmw is a private company it is owned by a number of different people. I was told by a Bmw GB employee that the majority of the shares were owned by one little old lady (possibly dead by now since I was told this 17 years ago). How rich is that estate now, due to Bmw's competitive market position?Simon13 wrote:bmw have had to expand their model range to remain competitive. they are owned by the Quandt family they are major share holders and are responsible for saving bmw from the shit many moons ago with cash injections for key new models. they definatly have lost touch a little bit since the e30 days-but like any business they gotta expand and cater for new tastes in order to stay at the top of the game! i think there is a bmw for every ones tastes in the currant range

have they lost touch? because we don't like the bangle styling? they can't build enough of the E65 seven's. Biggest selling 7 series ever and this was achieved years ago and the car is still in production. The E60 5 is hardly a bad seller? 6 series, i see them everywhere round my way. 1 series? sold loads. 3's need no mention. The only car which hasn't done aswell as they had hoped is the Z4 and X3. Thats a shame as they can't build enough mini's or X5's either!
My fav of the the newer models is the E46 coupe, it's stunning in it's pre face lift form. No one says it because you see them all the time. I'd love one to fettle like we do with our E30's in a few years

i personally like bangles styling and the fact that there are so many bmw's on the road is great for bmw and i hope they sell even more my only gripe is that with all the markets they are creating i would love to see them make a real drivers car like the e30 was renowned for, a car that dos not have so many electronic gizmos on it. even if it was in limited numbers, that would be great

I'd take a 330 touring from the current range with all the MTech bits, including that special blue. Loverly.
Totally useless as an estate, there's about enough room for a pack of fags in the boot, but I bet it goes like stink!
