I've just won a set off ebay.
Just been told that some were made by other firms. Mine are stamped Made in England on the back, so they might not be original. They have painted spokes, polished rims.
Cheers,
Mick

I went to a local tyre place. They had loads of new and used centre caps of all different sizes and shapes. They charged me £1.00 each, IIRC.
I struck lucky, because 58mm is an odd size, they told me.
They aren't MiM caps and they don't quite fit properly. They had a stuck-on logo. I took the logos off and sprayed the caps the same colour as the wheels.
I haven't got any yet, but there are genuine BMW roundels that should fit.

Sorry Ed, I can't remember now. It was a brand of wheel I don't recall having heard of. I'm trying to think what the logo was.....
They are push-fit. IIRC, they have 4 spring lugs on each cap.

Don't think so Mick. AFAIK, the 5-stud BMWs use 65mm caps.

Been to essbee's local tyre place with my one and only centre cap.
After much rooting around in the back, they found that Alessio centre caps are the exact diameter, although the clips are different. Bought the last four for £2 each, took them home and they fit fine - although they rattle slightly. This weekend I'll spend a bit of time trying to get them tighter, painted, badges fitted and let you know how they've worked out.
Cheers,
Mick

Glad you've got sorted Mick.
The BMW 58mm badges are 36 13 1 181 081 if you want to have a go at them. May be worth having a word with Steve(?) at Mill - perhaps he could get you one on appro to check for size.
I'm still undecided, I quite like the look of mine as they are.
Cheers
Stuart.

Definately the right diameter. Don't know about the length of the legs though. They may have the same problem as Mick (Baur320)'s got with his.
I doubt you'll find anything that will be a perfect fit though. Compromise is better than no centre caps at all. Just need a bit of ingenuity to keep them tight in the rim.

Right, I've rubbed down the Alessio centre caps to get the chrome effect off, sprayed them silver and got some badges. They look fine.
To stop the rattling, I've fitted the centre caps to the wheels. From the rear of the wheels and through the centre hole, I've forced a 2 inch piece of insulated wire between the claws of the centre cap and the wheel. The insulation compressed and holds the centre caps tight. It sounds a bit of a bodge job, but so far they're solid.
If I can suss out how to post pics (imageshack loads too slow), I'll get some up this weekend.
Cheers,
Mick
