Scuse my ignorance but know f/a about the e36 models.Is there any difference between the 316 compact and the 318 engine bay size..Also what is the overall build quality like.bodywork in particular.Thanks.

The e36 build quality is poor and the compact is worse.

Engine bay is the same compact/normal.

Bodywork isn't bad, just not as easy to work on as an E30. Although there is more room in the engine bay for working. Except for getting to that nasty plastic coolant piece on the back of the head on M4* engines.

Thanks for that.Not really bothered with the engine as it would,nt have been in there long.More concerned bodywise.Ed when you say build quality is poor ,do you mean the trim?.

personally, i think everything on e36's is poor. i hate working on them, coz they just feel so poor and loose
