Right I have the standard BMW alarm 3WGS or something.
This is my mates car, hes having problems with it so i have copied and pasted his post off e36coupe, thought someone on here might be able to help

the alarm is fctory fit and it could be a case of we need the secret code that should of been supplied with the car

MYy girlfriend went to get something out of the car and obviously couldnt understand the whole one button to lock and one button to un-lock routine and now my alarm wont stop going off and its as if the remote fob is useless!

I have turned the siren off with the key, but it just keeps doing the visual alert and some time and then stops for abit but will start again.

Any ideas on how to re-set the alarm? Do I just disconnect the battery for an hour?

I dont have the 'yellow envelope' that was supposed to go with the car, any idea how much it will cost me to get one from BMW tommorow with my code in it?

Any more info you need please ask!

cheers in advance
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

Hmmm, bad memory time

remove the glovebox and look up to the left of where all the modules are situated, you should find the alarm box hiding in there.

to re-slave to the fob, find the small hole in the front of the unit( where the cables connect) and using a mtchstick poke inside and you should find a small switch, ign on, toggle the switch and press the alarm arm button down.

should sync the two back together dude

HTH - its been a while since I did one

Well I have two different key fobs and neither seem to work....

So far in as much detail as poss the events:

- GF went out to get my laptop out of the car, I was in the kitchen and heard my alarm going off twice.
- Go to open the car later on and the keyfob wont work?? So she says "oh I gave up and used the key earlier"
- So I have to open the car using the key as the fob wont do anything.... This sets off the alarm so I turn the siren off using the key so now I just get flashing hazards.

Now whenever I:
open the door, unlock/lock the car using the key, open the bonnet, drive along etc
The visual alarm activates, this would be joined by the siren aswell if I hadnt of disabled it.

My actions to the car so far in trying to remedy the situation:
- Disconnected battery for between 30-45mins
- Pressed the bottons in the key fob many times in anger
- Been to BMW trying to get the 'secret personal alarm code' as stated in the handbook but BMW do not keep records :(

Really need this sorted beacuse I have taken the indicator relay out so I dont drive around with hazzards on periodicly!!

Bob, look up and to the left of the equipment rack, thats the usual hidey hole for the alarm on the '36

I've seen them as high as the air vent so have a good poke about
