Went down to Santapod yesterday in the C2.

On the way home had a play with 4 ZM Coupe's.

After a few short bursts (wont mention speeds), 2 of the ZM owners put the their windows down and said "that is bloody fast!"

Upto 3 figure speeds the ZM's pulled maybe 1 can length.

This little E30 is getting very very quick as the bottom end loosens up.

Needs another remap as the management doesn't compensate for anything.

I didnt get to run the C2 as I got there a little late (due to some diff knackering action on my M5).

The ZM's were doing mid 13's and IMrans car did 13.3.

I am certainly the man previously known as the Salpina!

The C2 is lightly modded.

Schrick 284/272 cam, very lightweight flywheel, Standalone management setup on the throttle angle -no MAF/AFM.
BTB 6 Branch Manifold and Alpina exhaust. Engine has total seal rings also with around 10.3:1 CR.

The ZM I really had a go with had a 3.64 LSD (normally 3.15) and some dodgy Pipercross induction kit.

Man do those things fly over 100 mph!! It just dissapears into the sunset never to be seen again.

But anyway, just goes to show a proper 2.7 E30 can surprise some very powerful cars upto certain speeds.

Rematch coming soon when I borrow Ant's Holset turbo m20 red SE.

Sal, it must be your driving!

Your C2 is quick, don't get me wrong but a Z3M Coupe is almost supercar quick. I guess you might not be 'lost' by one at certain midrange speeds.....

I think it's down to the power band difference of the engines and gearing and the fact the Alpina has that instant throttle response (this makes more difference than you may think).

The M20 stroker puts down alot of torque very quickly whereas the S50 needs more revs to really get going.

Remember, this is only upto around 90mph.......above which the ZM just leaps into the horizon and is never seen again.

My driving may well have something to do with it though.....learning from you Dave!
