540i Auto to manual?

Anybody know if converting an auto to 6 speed manual is viable for reasonable expense.

I've seen an 'M' reg saloon for around Ã‚£1495 but it is auto. Could be a cheap M5 contender!

I'd leave it as an auto personally, for the ever so slight gains in acceleration and top speed it doesn't seem viable to merit a conversion, but thats just my opinion. I'm not sure of costs/difficulties of conersion mind.

manual boxs are rare as fook and cost plenty $$$

i'm looking for one for my m60 just now but i an not payning stoopid money for it.

Thing is i can't get on with auto boxes.
Had a V8 supercharged Jag that was auto and i kept trying to change gear.

Anyway i may forget it and get me an M5 instead.

I'm still getting used to driving an auto box and although I do like driving manuals I'm not complaining about not having to changing gears!

I'd agree with you only when you are stuck in a traffic jam. Auto's come into ther own then.
