I've heard that you can increase the bhp / torque figures on the E36 328i 24v engine by replacing the inlet manifold and TB with one from a 325i 24v unit. Is it just a simple nut & bolt job?

With me having the E38 728i, does it ring true for this model as well? What else should I do? Will it run fine without any modifications to the ECU, or should I chip it as well?

I know this is a blatent Non-E30 question... but thought I'd ask anway. (it's in the right section)

Giles.

you can fit the M50 manifolding to the M52 but its not a nut and bolt job as various fittings are incorrect between the two.

best bet, contact Ian ( alpina527@aol.com) for one of his ready to fit setups.

you'll require a chip/remap to get the maximum gains from the swop, although its not going to break the bank either way dude.

worth the effort, my neighbour has Ians old e39 528, has M50 manifold, matching BBTB and a remap, makes 242 bhp , revs right out to, no more brick wall @ 5400 rpms winkeye

TBH, the conversion will probably not suit the e38, does cost a few lbs/ft in the lower rpm range, be pukka on the e36 though
