I'm off to view a one series tomorrow for a friend, and his pre warned me that in the advert it states a warning light is on. Apparently it's for ;
"DSC AND DTC DRIVING STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING DRIVE OFF ASSISTANT, AND THE RUN FLAT INDICATOR HAVE FAILED".
I'm no mechanic so is it worth having a look at? Or shall he walk away? I'm just viewing the car as it needs some attention to the paint. Thanks in advance!

That bad? I thought it would just be a problem from a tyre change. Maybe going from run flats to normal tyres, thank fook I asked!

The car doesn't know if it's got run flats fitted or not.E30_KIID wrote:That bad? I thought it would just be a problem from a tyre change. Maybe going from run flats to normal tyres, thank fook I asked!
It could be an ABS fault. As the run flat monitoring system is done via the ABS/DSC, obviously when a tyre is flat it's rolling radius is different.

I had a DSC warning light come up on my dash 3 days into owning a 130i. I thought it would just be a sensor so took it BMW to be diagnosed.
£150 later - I was presented with a £2000 bill as it was determined the DSC unit had failed, a common fault with one series.
I ended up getting a reconditioned unit and having installed via an independent at a cost of £650.
So I would walk away, or buy and take it somewhere to get fixed but bring money.

Whilst 6 cyl 1 Series and E90 stuff has the £2000 ABS block, 4 cyl ones are under 200 quid.
