Been looking at these recently as a new daily drive. I don't do mega miles a year so I'm not worried about fuel economy.
I'm sick of having cheap cars as a daily, time I bought something nice.
I know they are a quick car and nice to drive, also from what I've read pretty reliable and good to extract power out of, although Google doesn't tell you everything.
Just wondering if anyone on here owns one?

They are nice but can be a LOT of trouble - fuel pump, turbos etc. Try a 330i - they're a really nice thing but again, consider repair costs such as £2000 ABS modules etc.
Tbh, I would be buying one of these from a main dealer and getting the warranty. I know what you mean about shitters though - sometimes it's therapeutic to have something nice.

Whatever new cars I look at, they all have big repair bills when they go wrong.
I did look at a 330i, but want something that can be made faster. I loved my mates 130i, it had all the right bits but after a couple of times of driving it, it didn't feel fast enough.
I did stop at sytners in Nottingham recently and they hardly had anything in, but they are re doing there building. The salesman I spoke to also looked down at me which also puts me off main dealers!

I've got an e90 mate, it's a wicked car. Goes like stink and mines bone stock engine wise. Bought mine as a one owner FBMWSH on 125k which was a bit of a worry, but I've put at least 15k on it without a whisper of bother. I've got an aftermarket but still Bmw warranty if that makes sense?!

I've got the driveline cover, which is all I was scared of (turbos, HPFP etc) £50 a month
There are horror stories online about every car going, if you believed the Internet you'd be a full-time bus w*nker! The only hard part is finding one in the exact spec you want as they aren't overly common, especially in 91 flavour.

I have been running an E90 2.0d for about 4 years now, in stock form apart from the removal of swirl flaps. The only thing that needed attention in the 4 years was the traction control. New unit from BMW £1800 + Labour, reflashed original unit by specialist with lifetime warranty sourced by my local mechanic £400 inc labour.
So its not that expensive, depends where you go to get things sorted. Oil change done at BMW as my mechanic advised the engine oil is expensive enough for diesel units so cheaper to go there.
A 335 petrol or diesel will be immense, just make sure it has full service history like mines does and the car should hopefully look after you back

I have one, currently for sale on PH
In nigh on 2 years of ownership, the only issue I've had was the waterpump which was replaced under warranty from the dealer I bought it from. I took a driveline warranty out on mine too but have never needed to use it. They are ok cars. I did intend to modify mine after I bought it (fitted Bilstein kit + LSD) but then lost interest and just used it as a family car. The steering ruins these cars IMO, but that may be a E9X thing rather than a 335i thing.

Good luck finding a manual E91 335i touring.
One of the techs at ML just bought one after moths and months of looking and he ended up buying an LCI in LE mAns blue with a good spec from Birds but it was £18k!

A mate at work has a 335i coupe. It is bastard quick and he's had no issues with it in 2 years despite driving it quite hard most of the time.
Was bought from a dealer with warranty and I know he has extended the warranty since just in case though.

There's a manual on piston heads at the minute.
And there was one on Autotrader, which was an M sport with a decent spec.

Two in the whole country and only one an M sport.
Now go and see how many coupes and convertibles there are.

Still not many. But I'm sure the right car would come along if I hide my time.
There is a saloon not to far from me either, I would ideally want a touring.

They're not all like that. I would have sold you a car at Stratstone!maxfield wrote:Whatever new cars I look at, they all have big repair bills when they go wrong.

I wouldn't want an E90 saloon, they're becoming a bit council now but a Touring is a real weapon. As well as the ABS module (statistically it's not a common fault) look out for worn out tailgate hinges as they're made out of cheese.
As least they don't rust, and it's a massive improvement over the E46 in that respect. Whilst the possible repair bills are scary, the manual 330i is a superb drive and whilst they're not good as a 328i F30 (and they really are incredible), they sound lovely.

That's why I want a touring Andy, understated. There are a fair few E90s round here that are looking council. Plus it's always handy for space in a touring for me to put tools in the back when I need to. i did turn up at sytners with my work clothes on looking a bit scruffy in a clapped out E36 touring
Yes blitz I have seen that, if it's still for sale after Xmas I will try and make time to go look at it.

Plenty of council e90's around as they have been sub 5k for a long while now. The e92 is fast becoming the wanker chariot of choice now, just like the e46 coupe did.
