Slow but 40 mpg plus on 50/50 diesel and veg.

Our compact (a 1999 318ti sport) is still doing it's job bloody well despite 2-3 years of very minimal maintenance combined with the occasional track day!
It's probably the most reliable car i've owned yet. From 118k to 132k it's needed a coil pack, aircon regas and an exhaust. Shocks were tired when we bought it and it's used brake pads and tyres but those are hardly a reliability thing. It's not had an MOT fail in that time either.
It does 28-30mpg round town and 38-40mpg on a run. It really is very very good
Dare I say it, the best replacement for a E30... it still feels like one to drive. The full grown E36 just feels more sensible...
