One in yard going cheap!
It was on 4 post ramp in neutral running and rear wheels spinning but you could stop by putting pressure on one wheel with your foot.
Few little issues but are these a money pit?[/list]

Sounds like a typical diff operating as they do, but there must be a lot of gearbox drag for it to be turning the diff if it's in neutral; cold gearbox oil maybe?
Check the rear subframe mounts/floorpan, as they are reknowned for cracking.

Defo check the subframe mounts as they defo crack as Speedtouch says. I had a e46 m3 vert but had no probs with it, but it was a 53 plate with low miles. Sold it last year with 50k on it.

Also check where the pipes join the back box. The couplings crack and it's a new centre section or fabrication job

Very normal for wheels to spin in neutral if jacked up, it's just the thickness of the oil transferring movement from the input shaft.
