They are an E46 in drag so similar things apply such as Snapped rear coil springs, worn wishbone bushes, DSC pressure sensors, window regs.
Also the roof motor sits in a plastic cup which is prone to filling up with water and rotting/killing the motor which is a roof out job to change.
It's not as bad as it sounds, I have the job down to about an hour and a half.
If its a 2007 six pot then it will have the E9x type six pot which is an N52 which is a good engine but watch for failed mapped thermostat and electric water pump.

The Z4 i had leaked oil from the rocker cover on to the manafold used to smoke and stink of burning oil when first started.

Yep that's the one, big mistake buying that. Needed the roof down to get rid of the fumes of burning oil.
