Evening all. I'm going to look at an e39 540i which is apparently an ac schnitzer model. The seller doesn't have the original bill of sale and doesn't know if there are any id plaques anywhere. there is a sticker on the back and emblem on the plastic engine cover. the wheels are not acs but the skirts, exhaust and spoiler are.
If anybody could help with any place to positively identify the model I would be very grateful. Also if it is what would be the performance upgrades? (chip, exhaust, anything else?)
Many Thanks
Iain

AC schnitzer e39 don't really have an performance uprgrades, I had a manual 535 that just showed on the logbook as a 535 sport, they should have an exhaust tip fitted to a sport backbox, front and rear bumpers side skirts wheels roof spoiler boot spoiler and wing mirrors, PS check for rot behind the skirts

cheers mate, only noticed your reply after i wrote my second post, sorry. I thought there might have been a different chip or cams. I saw on google somebody wrote theirs was 314hp, i assumed from factory. Thanks for the tip, anything else to look out for. I'm only buying it really for the engine and 6 speed but will have it on the road as is for a while hoping for a bus or something to write it off so I can use it as a donor

Thats a good link mate. I see what you mean. there's too many bits missing. speedo logo is a perfect example. good stuff, bargaining chips. I dont suppose you know if there should be different cams, manifolds, ecu or any other good bits. thanks a lot for your help

They are not uk specced cars all AC schnitzers are different I think you'd struggle to find two that were exactly the same and I've never heard of them having engine/ECU mods on a a e39

Make sure you look behind the side skirts because they do rot behind there around the grommets where they clip into the sill

Ah right. The one in the eBay ad looks like is doesn't have any though.
To be fair, early E39's are beginning to suffer from sill rot even without skirts.

Yeah your right they do suffer regardless now tbh and I don't think side skirts will help obviously it's only AC schnitzers affected though and there aren't that many
