As title...I never thought much of them....but with the warmer weather hopefully nearby!, I have started looking at them..A German roadster for as little as £1500?...must be worth a look..

2.8's and 3.0's go very well!
Even the 2.2 goes alright.

I like the look of the black AC Schnitzer above
Is that all aftermarket body kit and alloys?..It looks mean!

The black one looks good...I would deffo go for the wide body and the M bumpers etc...timmzey wrote:The black one is my sisters current Z3 complete with Red Leather.
Think its dropped on a Z3M front splitter and complete with an AC Schnitzer back lip - also to note are clear lenses all round that are off the facelift cars (look much better than orange, even tho Orange is back in at the moment!).
I have previously dropped on a Z3M back bumper, Z3M Gills, exhausts etc etc at great expense, but the bits seems to have dropped considerably recently.
There were 2 versions of the body, the skimpy 4 cyl and the 'Widebody' 2.8.
The 2.8 lowered widebody (especially when I used to run 255's or 265's) resembled the arse end on a 911.You may laugh but you'll be surprised by the stance of them when they are done properly.
Really enjoyed my time with the z3, its gone to my brother but I'm sure i'll have it off him again soon. Owned it for 5 years and my average time for a car is normally about 6 months (even a E46 M3 Cab only lasted a year!) Infact, I think the m3 went before the z3 did!

Personally, I think the car looks BOTH masculine and feminine...It just depends what you want it to be...having a juicy straight 6 up front obviously helps with the 'machoness'...but its got some attractive curves.... I like it!

My wife had a 2.8 for 5 years, i can see all sides to it. I can remember blokes laughing at me driving it who obviously didn't know the 2.8 is a right hairy chested motor in the right hands
To pedal one quick requires some skill and concentration, they WILL put the unwary/foolish in the hedges. A very fun car once mastered but the old skool RWD rules apply here no e90 type mulit link rear axles to save your mid bend accelerator lift offs.
They are majorly reliable and simple to work on

The thought of something with a '911 esque wide arse' sounds appealing....hang on, am I talking about cars or women here??...probably both!

There's one at a salvage yard with multi coloured panals and just the stripped shell and its been out in the elements for years. Hardly any rust. The sills, sill covers and arches can start to show signs of rust but they are far better then e36/e46.bss325i wrote:Pretty damn good rust wise as well!
I wish they sold the 2.8/3.0 coupe in the UK. They are more much cheaper then the M and a lot of them for sale have heated seats, A/C and glass sunroof. They often have red or caramel interiors.

Z3's are rusting well now, mainly early ones. But it's the bolt on panels like wings and sills. Door mirrors are fragile in old age and are £££ even used. But they are very simple and reliable - there is nothing really to go wrong with them. The 1.9 goes alright and are ace on fuel.

I just completed a load of work on a one German owner from new Z3 2.8 Coupe in gloss black with caramel interior which had the same style 32 wheels in the pic above, heated seats and A/C.Blitz wrote:There's one at a salvage yard with multi coloured panals and just the stripped shell and its been out in the elements for years. They are a great car to drive and quick enough to entertain. It's a travesty the only some the Z3M in coupe format here!
