This is tickling my fancy, its got pretty good spec to my eyes no sunroof but thats asking on e46's! I love a sport wagon in a dark colour of sorts on MV1 wheels.

I'm just toying in my mind whether one of these would be a good trade for my trusty B3 e36. If you go by book figures the e46 is a bit heavier, 35bhp down and about 25lbs torque but i guess i might get a little better MPG?! And i won't have to run it on super unleaded. I just love the way our e46 touring drives/handles. Makes my e36 seem boring.

It won't be as fast but they're no slouch, would this be late enough to have the 6 speed box? I can't put up with 5 anymore

It will be a 5 speed, six speed from mid 2003, same time as MV2's replaced 1's and the coupes and convertibles were face lifted.

Not a bad spec but green with beige again?

Also says electric memory seats but it clearly doesnt have them and also says business cassette yet it has pro nav!

Alan will be switching to H&R "sport" springs, the "race" springs that come with the sport cup kit is a bit too low for him.

I'm switching to blistein B8 shocks on my car.

One sport Cup kit available :D

Not selling it now then? :)

Simon, does it have to be a manual as there is much more choice with auto?

i get bored with auto even switch-tronic, i do minimal town driving. Manual means better mpgs, less aggro and change gear when i want direct drive to the mill.

I never said that 330d was big spec! The autos seem to be the big hitters with the specs hmmmm
I'm getting the itch for a new motor of sorts, you guys know that feeling! its bad when you get the itch.

It's even worse when you get the itch for something you can't afford - I've got a thing for E91 335i Tourings at the mo!

I've got a massive itch for an E30 M3 but that's not happening anytime soon. Luckily i get to play with them though. :)

I also have a MASSIVE itch for a more affordable E12 M535i after finally getting a drive of one. I understand what all the hype is about compared to an E28 535i! 8)

Montana is the shite leather, a very thin skin on a vinyl base. Proper leather is Nappa.

i beg to differ, nappa was an M3 thing and different again.

My 220,000 montana drivers seat shows its good leather that lasts. I've even got the sample in the history you get when they were new. My e46 drivers seat is also in fine fettle and standing up well

Montana is the cheap stuff. It's a few microns of leather on a vinyl base. The vast majority of BMW's have this because it's cheap and hardwearing. Kris Odwarka at Alpina told me this, since confirmed. It wears as well as vinyl beacuse that's really what it is. Nappa is the proper stuff along with Bison/Buffallo. It's much softer, requires more care and doesn't age as well.

My 318Ti has Individual Nappa and it's nothing like the leather in the 320d.

its not the standard quality leather like the vinyl your on about, its an upgrade. Its the highest they offer on the current 7 series must be shite.

Bison is bloody horrid while we are on it. Its anything but soft

Don't believe anyone who says the E12 is better - it's not. The E28 version is quicker and much more together. I had the chance to drive two really nice examples back to back years ago and the E28 was by far the better car.

Montana is the cheapest leather trim and it's used on the E46 and E39. It's what you get when you just specify leather over velours. Nappa is the proper stuff and was an option on the E46 - check the brochure.

Montana is the cheapest, followed by Club leather (mainly E38's), Nappa and Buffalo. I'm not a fan of Buffalo either.
