Which would people rather have?...A 2.5 breathed on by Alpina/Sytner or a BMW 2.8?....

similar performance really although the B2.5 would be superior in the handling, but these are now all around 20 years old so this comparison wouldn't really stand up these days.

I'd have a B2.5, just for something out of the ordinary.

agreed, those that have seen it in the metal have said the same.
I think the seller bought it for half that late last year (could be mistaken though) and is hoping to make a fast buck.

979 I think you will even struggle to find a decent 328i sport as well these days.

Most of these 2.5 alpinas got broke up years ago due to rot, doesnt look like this is far away either.... id rather have a 2.8 TBH, no replacement for displacement etc etc and that price is way way over the top

I'd get a 328 and chuck an m50 manifold on.

I also wouldn't buy an e36 without sports seats or aircon, neither of which that alpina has. It's got rust creeping in all the usual e36 places, the wheels need a refurb, the front bumper looks shagged. Looks like a £500 car to me. Maybe £750 at a push just because it's an alpina? It'll never be anything particularly special though.
cheers,

It's a SE coupe, nothing special, doesn't look like an Alpina, more like Alpina has just about farted on it. It's a rotter, no morsels even to make it worth breaking.
