One in my road.
It looks quite roomy inside. It's the only one I have seen on the road here in a week

Quite snazzy looking. Makes that BMW SUV over the road look like a Tonka toy in comparison.

It's the future. Thinking about getting one myself as there's a charging point a mile from my house, which will charge it fully in 3 hours, 8 hour charge from a domestic supply.

There is a 4 door E30 and a touring a few cars behind it.

That looks small too.

I may go and take a photo....

I had a play in one of these last week

A fantastic car really made sense

The BMW chap said it would need no servicing !!

Apparently the brakes never need replacing as it uses the electric motors for braking.

zero fuel bills
zero road tax

Very roomy car also

I'll wager there are hidden costs, such as the exclusive 19" tyres, and other components unique to the i3.

The thing is, I get the electric thing, makes sense

But why do they have to make it look like my lad's transformer collection

To me, it looks rubbish

But its technology is bang on

Call me a skeptic but, electric cars on paper make financial sense but where is that electricity coming from? Nuclear, fossil fuel power plants, all still damaging to the environment. Here in the UK will will have 8 new nuclear sites by 2025, not good.

Also, there are many environmentally damaging manufacturing techniques used in making these cars, so much so that western manufacturers have developing nations make them as not to pay the huge taxes and responsibilities associated with creating these components on their own soil.

Yes no road tax or fuel, but when they become widely adopted and the government isn't making any more tax on motorists, they will invent other motoring taxes to fill the void.!

Oh and the design of the i3, if I squint it looks like any other of the slew of reasonably priced Asian cross over cars plaguing our roads now. Namely a Toyota aygo crossed with a Nissan Qashqai. It's just a European regulation box ticking joke. Pass.

Changing the company car this october and could quite easily consider one of these - not got over the side profile yet but paying significantly less tax and no congestion charge plus naff all to run it - would probably charge it every day at work.

It all sounds too good to be true - I'm sure the government will invent something to make it expensive somewhere along the line.

It's safe until human error interviews or a natural disaster. Plus where is all the extra nuclear waste going?

Also what about parts and maintenance outside of warranty? Your gonna get real friendly with the stealerships I think....

I apologise for the negativity but I think electric cars are a non solution that are not solving anything yet offsetting the burden of the oil industry onto the flawed energy market.

A better solution would be to look at clean fuels we can use in our current cars. Alcohol fuels, bio diesels ect. Clean renewable sources.

The looks grow on you. I think theyr pretty sharp. But bare in mind im exposed to a fleet of 3/4 every day.

As for exclusive tyres ETC its bridgestone that make the tyres at the minute and they are expensive...but theyr no more expensive than a tyre for the E92. They don't wear as often because the weight isn't so severe.

Brakes don't need replaced because you never use them, unless you need to hold yourself on a hill - Or some C*nt cuts you up at 100 on the autobahn.

They're going to start hammering diesels on road tax - even the Efficient Dynamics zero road tax stuff. About time as well, filthy dirty shitboxes.

My best friend works for AMEC doing costing for the manufacture of nuclear waste disposal facilities and related machinery. He sees a lot of what goes on in the nuclear industry... the word 'shambles' springs to mind.
