That's basically an E60 M5 for those who's on a budget
Quite a rare thing, for sure.
Although, might be worth saving a few more grand and getting the real deal? But that would probably get you to the lower-end scale of M5's, as good ones are around 20k?

One of these over an M5 any day of there week!
Having driven a few of these and many E6x M5's, this car is prefferable.
They basically have the same power, a shade over 500bhp but the M5 only has 384lbft at a heady 6100 rpm where as the Alpina has 516 lbft at 4250 rpm and its a marked difference as you dont have to ring its neck as much as the M5.
Also, it doesnt have SMG which is always a good thing but it still has switch tronic so you can still shift manually.
The M5's chassis has the edge but tbh, on the road the advantage isn't that great and only on track would you really notice the difference.
This particular B5 is the cheapest i have seen for sale.
If this was for sale last year when i bought my M3, i would have bought this instead!

It is the real deal. I'd rather have a B5 then an M5. 516lb ft vs 384lb ft!

Alpina FTW!
When you can buy something like this, it makes me wonder about the prices being asked for the older cars
