My girlfriends dads e36 328i cab started to overheat so I suggested it needed an overhaul. I changed the water pump, thermostat and viscous fan (this was broke).

Now I've just seen that the radiator is leaking from somewhere at the bottom, and the car still overheats when driving. Would this leak cause the car to overheat? The cars heater doesn't heat up either which points to an airlock?

Any help appreciated.

A leaking rad means the system won't hold pressure so will boil the coolant and cause air pockets.

A new rad may fix it, but the damage might already have been done as they do like to kill headgasket a and warp heads if they get too hot. They can also be a bit of a pig to bleed apparently.
cheers,

Hopefully the head gasket will be OK!
