Jerky throttle on my '46 Wagon

My 325i seems to have developed an annoying trait of the throttle becoming very jerky/ causing the vehicle to kangaroo when very light throttle is used pulling away.

Ever since I've had the car I have never witnessed/ had a car that stalls so much. I put it down to the gayness of fly by wire and the M54B25 not exactly having an avalanche of torque/ not being able to pull a randy dog off your mother.

More recently I have noted the car really jerks when trying to set off with light throttle or after changing gear and accelerating very lightly.

Any suggestions on where to look? Clutch delay valve?

Faulty gas pedal? Do the pedals work like a potentiometer? Can they be tested with a multimeter?

Scan the MoFo for fault codes. Could be a few things including the electronic throttle body.

Just getting to grips with the 320d, lots of agg. Slightly disappointed with 40mpg overall including lots of town work - thought it would be better. Another rear spring broke yesterday - I heard the fukcer twang as well. Handbrake is useless.

throttle body electronics most likely. get another tb and try it.

I'm seeing 30mpg as an average over the last 2k miles. That is largely because I've done a few motorway runs. It is quite a nice refined feeling car and after getting in the company 2009 Diesel Focus it feels palatial.

It has never felt quick and has always felt like it had a bit pf punch on light throttle and then sod all difference if you fully opened the taps. But i just put this down to coming from the chromie which had far more shove and weighed about 300kgs less.

Check the air intake pipes between the air mass meter and trottle body and the small elbow to the idle valve for splits.

I seem to have cured the stuttering throttle that was happening when cold and on very light throttle openings......

I noticed last week that the engine was starting to sound a bit "ticky" at the top end, almost like listening to injectors ticking away on an M20 turd.

That don't sound right I thought, so I checked the oil level. Not a sausage on the dipstick, ooops

So I chuck a litre of oil in it and the ticking stops

Last 2 mornings, no throttle jerk either.

Maybe the coont wanted to seize on me

Easy done with the oil thirst and dodgy oil senders, apparently it's a hot check on these too.

I had a couple of new boots put on the rear of the bus on Saturday and a broken spring was noticed when it was on the ramp.

Are they easy to fit, i.e just undo the bottom bolt on the shock and let the leg hang down, or is there more farting about than that?

Yes, just the shocker bolt. Although the springs are quite a tight fit from memory.
