Hi all,
The wiper on my compact has finally stopped working .
It started to "stop" itself on the return stroke and then on the out stroke and has now stopped working all together.
Any ideas please?
Mart

Hi Mart
If that was happening on my E30 I'd say the motor needed to be stripped, cleaned and re - greased.
Hopefully someone who has experienced this on your marque will be along soon, though.

Is the motor turning at all? it could be the splines on the wiper have gone so it's not gripping the motor ( unlikely though as the wiper would probably be loose and move around on it's own too.
other e36s are known to suffer breaks in the wiring around the boot hinge area, which could cause similar issues although i've never heard of it on a compact.
personally i'd be peeling back the rubber boots to give the wiring a once over, if that looked ok i'd stick a new (seconhand ) motor on. it's probably cheaper and easier to get a new one than to attempt to fix yours.

I'm well, and it's good to 'see' you.
Looks like Harry has a better idea about this, so follow his advice.
I was just taking the opportunity to say hi, really. I have no idea about E36s.. I don't do 'modern' cars
