what would be quicker on 1/4 mile?

my mate thinks an e30 with m52b28 but I doubt him. Ive never been in or driven an m50`d e30 but have owned a m30 powered e30 and was nowhere near as quick as a 540i which ive had a manual and currently own an auto which is just as fast
