Morning all
I've just been to see an '84 518 e28 with a view to purchase.
It LOOKED in fairly ok nick, just wondered who on the zone has had experience of these in current state, what the commonest issues/problems are
The engine is the venerable M10, so a swap may be on the cards if it comes off...
Cheers
Stu

rust in similar places to E30's is the biggest problem. front footwells/jacking pads, sills, scuttle/windscreen surround are main areas.
leaky boots are an issue so look for water in there.
rusty spring cups on the front struts lead to failure.
being a 4-pot it wont have the dog bones on the rear arms, but it will have a servo instead of the brake bomb.
if it's rust free get it bought!
