DON'T !!!!!!!!
Timing chain dramas, head gasket failure, nasty oil leaks, crank sensor woes etc etc.
These issues are not unique to the sorry 150k scrap that the stereotypical zoner can just about stretch to, these issues affect ALL of these turds

As aboce. Forget the four pods. The 1.9's are all old shit in head gasket territory, the Valvetronic is a disaster area and the dieselds are a £1500 invoice waiting to happen.
Six cylinder is the only way to go. Or a Mondeo.

Thanks guys. I thought they might be a better choice than a volvo 850 with 200k on the clock.

But talking of Volvos, have a look at how cheap 2.0 S60's are now. They're a nice thing. Good looking, decently built and they drive really well. £1500 for a good 2.0T manual on a 51 plate.
