E39 Touring Rusty Tailgate Warranty Claim???

Hello

This is a complete long shot but what do you think my chances are of claiming on the anti corrosion warranty on my 2002 e39 touring?

The car has scabbed up on the outer edges of the split tailgate.

This is a common area I think so a second hand boot is a waist of time. I'm certain BMW were replacing these under the warranty and its a known weak spot.

The only reason I'm willing to try is because I've just had a right result with VW who are willing to honer there 12 year anti corrosion warranty on my 124,000 mile passat

I'm having both front wings replaced and the rear boot lid all under the warranty.

Am I completely wasting my time trying this on with BMW?

I hate to think what a new tailgate would cost

Not a chance in hell.

Body warranty is only for 6 years on pre jan 2004 cars, 10 years there after.

What about a good will contribution towards the cost of a new boot lid???

I thought as much Barry just thought it was worth a punt.

I'm thinking of moving the car on so it might just have to be a repair job.

You can't fault VW though. To say that I'm very pleased is an under statement.

I might have to consider the VAG group again for the next family bus

I just bought a mint complete tailgate for my new E39 whip, looked inside and all the seams are full of wax
Cost me £25
Nearly popped a b0ll0ck carrying it back through the scrapyard though
