Have checked the window is done up and that the door seal is ok.
Are there any other common issues here?
Many thanx

Hi Andy
Remove the inner door trim, behind there is a seal which is stuck to the door
with butyl tape.make sure it is intact ie no cuts or rips.then check it is stuck
fast to the door all the way round, any gaps and water will leak past into the car.
Kevin.

Any grommets in the floor that could be loose?

I'd go with this as the most likely cause followed by possibly the door aperture seal.wellard wrote:Hi Andy

Make sure the membrane in the door is intact and sealed as well.

You are right though, the accurate description is door membrane but I knew what he meant as he mentioned the butyl tape.
If someone's been in the door for some other reason like a window or central locking fault or more commonly a body shop fitter then the butyl tape has not been reapplied correctly causing the leak.

Hi guys, just seen the responses, a big thankyou
Thats what we thought, the door has been apart as it was hit on that side before he bought the car, but removed the membrane (held on with what looks like black tiger seal?)
and here's what we have:
Looks like the water is coming in at the front of the rear quarter light external weather seal (?)
Thought it was running down the outside of the cable (arrowed) but have moved that back and it still is the same.
and then as follows (Blue behind the metal, red visable/ infront of the panel):
