It will say m535i on the log book,
They should have a diff, and bilstien shocks. They came in an auto as well i think.

Dog-leg box isn't standard. Did come in auto or manual. Log book will confirm the model, or take the VIN to a BMW dealer and they can get you an original build spec sheet so you can see how many morsels it's lost over the years.

An E28 thats requires body work? surely not? good luck with it, they are just a big E30 really the 3.5 M30 gives plenty....

oooh yeah, might have noticed iv mentioned before i used to be into mk2 escorts and other old fords. so rot is something im used to, i could only have a look the other day in the relative dark (hence going back for a proper look tomorrow)
but the sills need work, boot and theres a suspicious lumpy area by the rear screen which i suspect is a wonderful mixture of P40 or similar!
thanks again for the advice, if i go for it il report back

Watch out for rot in the floor round the subframe mounts just inside the rear end of the sill. Much more hassle than a simple sill repair..Rich320I wrote:but the sills need work
