E34 ix gearbox query.

I have an e34 325 Ix box with "zf 1053401097" part number. From what I can see this might have the same internals as 328/m3 box?

If so I might use it on a conversion.

Would be handy if it were true as I want to convert an auto iX into a manual. I thought the e34 iX box was specific.

I'm not looking to change it til next summer. Was more interested in the possibility of a 328i box being interchangeable with the iX one.

a 328 box will no fit a transfer case on it. no chance. However and e34 box with transfercase mounted 'may' be suitable for a 2wd conversion if the box is strong enough.
