most 70's BMW's had reputations for being twitchy - IIRC the E21 323i was particularly entertaining 
e30topless said : Proper BMW's have 4 headlights, last of the run was the E30 and E34/E32 anything after that is just complete shite

The worst handling bmw will be a standard 25 year old bmw with 180,000 miles on the clock thats in excellent "original" condition

i drove a neue klasse 2000 saloon once it was horrible. as for the e46 compact they handle pretty well if the suspensions ok.
