I have a mate that has his e36 316 compact at my house, wanting to sell it. Tax and MOT ran out in April, if he decides to break it, is there anything worth grabbing? Not just for e30s, but is anything of value on these? Am I right in thinking the rear trailing arms are good for 5 stud conversion and the diff can be used with e30 back plate for the e30s? Anything else?

The steering rack is worth pulling off, but they are only worth £25-£50 max
The rear arms on a 316ti will be drum brakes, so although they are OK for a 5 stud setup, people generally prefer to use the 318ti arms as they have discs.
I'd put an MOT on it and stick it on ebay, it'll make a grand+ unless it's a hound

Its a W reg, 103k miles. He is leaving the country for a bit and doesn't have time to MOT it right now. The windshield has a knick in it and the drivers glass doesn't stay on its frame. I am not seeing much money breaking it. I might bite the bullet and MOT it for him and put it up on eBay.

Hmm, a late one. They're useless breakers but a 1.9 8v engine is £250. Still worth more as a whole car.

if it's otherwise tidy, stick an mot on it, flog those wheels and buy a secondhand set of 15s for £50, make it look clean and tidy and you'll get a grand for it without any bother.
it'd take forever to get anywhere near that selling it in bits.
