Custom intake on M50 engine?
Moderator: martauto
You will gain some weight over the standard one I suspect.
In terms of performance, not much, unless there's a turbo forcing the air into it. And even then, I think the standard plastic one is fine for that.

You already have an M50 turbo, or you're considering turboing one? Is it in an E30 or E36?robyv8 wrote:Iam looking ways to increase power, turbo is olso included...
Have a look in the engine swap/forced induction pages, all your answers will be in there with a bit of searching.

The M50 turbo E30's I have seen of are all running the stock inlet manifold. Some of those are producing over 500bhp, which is more than enough for any street driven E30. So I would not waste time or effort trying to create your own.

buy an engine management system first, that will be your biggest challenge. Then tune the engine to pick up some ponies. Then the turbo process will take much less time. Trying to do a loom/ and a turbo kit all at once get's a little overwhelming at times.

Argos
B&Q are doing a summer special also but Screwfix is £3.50 cheaper for the same one...E30BeemerLad wrote:Argos
Yeah if you want a garbage one!! Mind you they're doing a two for one on own brand management systems so if you have a twin-engined monster then that'll be fine!! I'd go with the Screwfix one personally...Jhonno wrote:Lidl..

To the original poster, you need to have some idea of what make of aftermarket system you are interested in, there are so many makes, such as megasquirt, megajolt, Emerald, VEMS etc etc etc
